In January 2006, DS Gene became Accelrys Gene with the release of version 2.0. The highlight of this version was an integrated sequence confirmation module. This is a variation of contig assembly that is tuned for a variety of resequencing tasks that are common in most molecular biology laboratories. You can use the interface to confirm the sequence of a cloned PCR fragment, sequence across cloning junctions, analyze the results of site-specific mutagenesis experiments, identify single nucleotide polymorphisms and compare the sequences of closely related genes or clones.
